Belated Update!
Nate and I are pretty bad about keeping our blog current! We did manage to backpack through all of the months last year in Metlakatla, November being the worst with sideways iced rain. The best was hearing wolves howl across the water and seeing a grey whale rise just off shore, 20 or so feet, close enough to see the texture of it's skin. We talked our friends Randy and Shannon in to going with us once, and we were treated to Shannon's famous salmon dip and they brought half-and-half for the morning's coffee..... aaahhh.... good company and good eats!
At the start of our summer break Nate adventured on a mountaineering trip in Haines Alaska and I went back to Colorado and hung out at our place in Durango. We have spent the summer in Colorado and have just completed hiking a good portion of the Colorado Trail, starting south of Denver at Copper Mountain and finishing up in Silverton, hiking a total of about 250 miles. We are now getting ready to head back to Metlakatla for the school year.
Other fun news is that we have adopted a dog. His name is Buster and he is a year and half old. He is a black lab with basset hound eyes and little skinny coyote legs. We have no idea what his mix is, a little bit of cute and a lot of play.
