Herring!

The time for collecting herring eggs has come and gone. It is a cool time here when the herring season comes. All the fisherman gear up and head out and the area teems with wildlife. We saw a pod of harbor porpoise and the eagles were hanging out around shore in groups of 30 – 50; there were so many it was difficult to keep track. The whales were here, although we didn’t see any, we knew they were here, feasting.(The birds in the photo are sea gulls; also feasting on herring eggs.)
