This is a picture of our ferry that runs to Ketchikan.
Nate and I have been working a lot but have had a little bit of time to enjoy the local wilderness. We get together with friends on Fridays for dinner and try to hike on the weekends.
We have made several trips to Ketchikan to pick up some organic groceries and supplies that are not available here. We sometimes fly in a float plane and sometimes go on the ferry. Both modes of transport are pretty fun.
We are both doing really well in our classes that we are taking online and we both enjoy our jobs. Nate has been substitute teaching during the day and is sought after by the Elementary School and High School. He has been busy with teaching first grade and has taught the computer class as well. He will be able to teach Science next week to several different age groups next week at the Elementary level. It will be an awesome experience. His night job at the University is going well; he hopes to get some more clients by giving a power point presentation at the high school and getting some seniors to dual enroll. (Sign up for online classes at the college while they are still in High School.)
My class is a challenge and I am doing well with them. They are an energetic and talkative group. They are very eager to learn, which is great! We are studying the 7 continents in 6 week units and are currently studying Africa. They love it. We have pen pals in California which is really getting them excited about writing, which is a triumph for me. Reading groups are now set up and this is meeting the student’s needs perfectly. I am still assessing but am able to move forward with long term planning now which is going to be great.
